WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY

Rooted in Christian faith.

The doctrinal commitments that guide teaching, formation, and ministry at WITS.

01

Scripture

The Bible is the inerrant, verbally inspired Word of God and the sufficient rule for faith and practice.

02

The triune God

One God exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

03

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, lived without sin, rose bodily, and ascended to heaven, where He serves as High Priest and Advocate.

04

Humanity and sin

Humanity was created in God’s image. Disobedience brought spiritual separation and physical death; all people are sinners by nature and practice.

05

Salvation

Jesus Christ died as a substitutionary sacrifice for sin. Those who believe in Him are justified through His shed blood and, through the Holy Spirit, become children of God.

06

Christ’s return

WITS affirms the personal and imminent return of Jesus Christ.

07

Resurrection and eternity

WITS affirms the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, everlasting blessedness for the saved, and everlasting punishment for the lost.

08

The church

Believers are united in one body by the Holy Spirit. The church witnesses to Jesus Christ and preaches the Gospel among all nations. WITS affirms that the church will be caught up to meet the Lord before He establishes His Kingdom.

09

A life of grace

God’s grace sustains a godly life. Christ, rather than the law, is the believer’s rule of life.

This summary follows WITS’s published doctrinal statement.
